After some explorations of monkeys in both north Liverpool and Hereford, we’re going to be looking at some monkeys in south Liverpool. I very confidently had catalogued a small monkey in the front lawn of Sudley House in Mossley Hill. I remembered seeing this monkey back in 2010. Here’s the photograph I took.
Fortunately I was with Ronnie, who took this photograph:
We had visited Sudley on this occasion as Ronnie had told me that there was a splendid display of crocuses – which there was. Ronnie took this photograph with the tree as ‘foreground framing’ rather than a photograph of the tree itself. Otherwise we would have known now about the ‘donated and planted’ part of the label…. who donated the tree, and why? But, four years later, the tree is no longer there.
We visited Sudley today, to look for the monkey. As you can see, the crocuses have finished, and the daffodils are out. But no monkey. Just the front lawn of Sudley House. I wonder what happened to this monkey? If you know, I’d love to find out.
